Prevent Viruses, Phishing, Trojans, Spam ware, and more

Stop Using Windows as Administrator !

Remember, "Analysis of Microsoft Security Bulletins from 2013 highlights that 92% of Critical vulnerabilities would be mitigated by removing admin rights across an enterprise."

The Avecto paper, 2013 Microsoft Vulnerabilities Study: Mitigating Risk by Removing User Privileges finds what Security Engineers and Analysts have known for some time. Reducing user privileges is good practice for the enterprise but it is different for the every day person at home.

People who just bought a Windows laptop rush home to set it up with the default Administrator account. Below is my video on how to take your existing Windows setup (most common I've seen is no log in) and move to a Standard user to greatly reduce your chances of getting a virus.

Follow the video and you won't need to log in with a password but you will have passwords on the Administrator and Standard user accounts. Giving Windows more of a "sudo" solution that Linux users enjoy and is more safe.

You can jump to 7:10 to learn how to boot straight to Desktop.

Tested on Windows 7 Home and Professional

Commands:
[windows-key]+[ r ] control userpasswords
[windows-key]+[ r ] control userpasswords2
